Measuring your PD

Your PD is the distance between the middle of each of your pupils. This information is sometimes included in your prescription. If it is not, we ask you to carefully measure this distance. We recommend asking a friend to help you with this, although it is possible using a mirror. For reference, the average distance for women is 60mm, and for men it is 64mm.

Sample Prescription

Measuring your Glasses

We recommend that when you order your new frames from us, their size is within +/- 4mm of your existing frames.

If you already own a pair of glasses that you find comfortable, we recommend that you take the measurements from these. A frame has three basic sizes: 1) lens size, 2) bridge size, 3) arm size (measured in millimetres and always written in this order). These sizes will often be written somewhere on the frame, usually on the arm or behind the bridge in a sequence of numbers, such as: 48 18 140.

Sometimes the numbers will have worn away and you will need to measure them yourself.

Step 3. Now please consider your lens options

There are different types of lenses that you can choose. The options are:

Transitions lenses go dark in the bright sunshine and clear again when you go indoors.
Polarised lenses block glare. They are good for daytime driving, and all kinds of watersports. Not recommended for use at night.
Tinted lenses have a permanent colour, like sunglasses. These are not recommended for use at at night.
Anti-reflection coatings on lenses reduce reflections and increase clarity. ALMOST ALL LENSES SUPPLIED BY PAUL ROCHE EYEWEAR GIVE YOU THIS BENEFIT FOR NO EXTRA COST.
Hard coatings give extra protection against scratching, although no hard coat can make spectacle lens materials completely scratch resistant. ALMOST ALL LENSES SUPPLIED BY PAUL ROCHE EYEWEAR GIVE YOU THIS BENEFIT AT NO EXTRA COST.

Great Glasses, great price!!
